Have a Story to Tell? Let Mattimex Bring Your Vision to Life!
Written and performed by Naomi Counter-Ohiri, Slavery: The African Diaspora is a powerful spoken-word journey through the history, suffering, resilience, and enduring legacy of people of African descent.
Through poetry, historical imagery, and personal reflection, Counter-Ohiri traces a journey from Africa through the transatlantic slave trade and the Middle Passage to enslavement in America, emancipation, and the continuing struggle for equality and recognition. The film honors those who endured, survived, resisted, and paved the way for generations that followed.
Slavery: The African Diaspora invites viewers not only to remember history, but also to consider how that history continues to shape the present.
