Dr. Pauline Williams: 40+ Years of Storytelling That Changes Lives :clapper::sparkles:

She's been making television for generations — and she's just getting started on her next chapter.

Dr. Pauline Williams is an educator, filmmaker, author, and community advocate who has spent four decades turning cameras, classrooms, and community rooms into spaces where people learn, grow, and get heard.

It started in the '80s. Dr. Williams cut her teeth at CAN TV during the early days of public access television in Chicago — a moment when ordinary people were first getting real access to media. She learned every job behind the camera while helping neighbors tell their own stories. Decades, hundreds of programs, and one career detour into education later, she came back to active production in 2018. She never really left.

Her breakout hit? Mamie's Hospitality Hotel — an award-winning sitcom based in the 1920s that won a CANfest Silver CAN Award in 1990 and became a community television classic. In 2026, she brought it back with Mamie's Hospitality Hotel – A Centennial Reflection (1926–2026) – 37th Anniversary Edition, introducing a new generation to a story that's now literally 100 years in the making.

The rest of her catalog reads like a master class in purposeful storytelling:

Off-screen, she was just as transformative. As a university professor and teacher-prep leader, Dr. Williams mentored the next generation of educators — with a special focus on opening doors for aspiring teachers of color and multilingual educators.

Now, she's building something new. Through her company, Mattimex Productions, LLC, Dr. Williams is developing Shoutin' Hallelujah! — a faith-based feature film about redemption, forgiveness, and family healing — alongside its companion piece, the documentary Shoutin' Hallelujah: A Journey of Healing, featuring real stories of reconciliation and restored faith.

40+ years in, she's not slowing down. Dr. Pauline Williams is still writing, producing, and creating spaces for dialogue, healing, and connection — proving that the most powerful stories are the ones that bring people together.
